Social Impact
Commissioned by Katingan Mentaya, a peatlands conservation site, the workshop was part of a greater endeavour of the non-profit in educating its surrounding population in restorative practices in forestry and addressing the false dichotomy of ecology vs. economy.
Workshop
The angle we took on the workshop was to engage, equip and release. This informed how we presented the device, which was designed to show its inner parts and to be easily disassembled and reassembled.
By showing exactly what constitutes its parts and how to assemble the device, the idea is that the non-profit’s educators would be able to share a basic understanding of plant electrophysiology at a grassroots level.
With a deeper understanding of plant life processes, a deeper appreciation of ecosystems, and the conservation work around them, can be fostered.
Device Assembly
An eight-step disassembly and reassembly sequence, designed to be taught and repeated at a grassroots level.
