Commissioned as an art project by the British Council, Digital Nativ (IDN) and Invisible Flock (UK) collaborated on the work in an effort to highlight the fragility of ecosystems at the forefront of climate change.
Across the journey, the captured biodata includes; spatial sound recordings of the Luweng Grubog and Luweng Jomblang cave systems, recordings of seismic activity near the craters of Bromo, the bioelectrical activity of mangroves in Baluran, the pantone samples of the pink beaches of Komodo and the blue hues of the Kelimutu lakes, as well as material samples which include soil from the ricefields of Ruteng and the grasslands of Baluran National Park, volcanic rock and ash from Bromo, spring water from the Manalage hot springs and seawater from Labuan Bajo.
Along the way we uncovered natural phenomenons such as the bioelectrical energy that plants generate, the slow bleaching of corals and the seismic patterns left in a lava flow.
The installation is a response to these findings and reimagines these hidden processes through an immersive and interactive audiovisual experience.
